The older you get the less compromised you are, and demands more of your ways. When I was 16, life revolves around making everything work with my new found boyfriend even if it means to compromise my lifestyle. 10 years later, I know what I want in my life and whatever does not fit will not stay.
Sadly, the older you are the more demands you have in life. Likewise, it only gets increasingly difficult to find a life partner who fits you just right. A little compromise goes a long way but it gets tougher by the age!
